RED FRONT DOORS
A red door means “welcome” in an old early American tradition. If a family had a red front door tired travelers traveling by horse and buggy would know that a home was a welcoming place to rest. They would be able to spend the night there.
A red door provides protection. In Biblical times, the Hebrew slaves were instructed to smear blood of a lamb on their front doors to protect their first born from the angel of death. In old Catholicism churches painted the doors of the church red to represent the blood of Christ. Passing through the door would mean that you were on holy ground. Some believe a red door protects the occupants from evil.
A red front door means mortgage-free. In Scotland, homeowners would paint their front door red to signify that they had paid off their mortgage.
BLUE FRONT DOOR
Blue represents water and abundance. In the Chinese philosophy of feng shui, blue represents water and abundance. It belongs to the water element. It is a wonderful feng shui color with many hues. There are many ranges of blue from light, to bluish green to deep indigo blue.
Dark blue doors are calm. Piggybacking on the previous point, dark blue doors evoke calm and peace for your home. So having a blue exterior door at your entrance creates a sense of calm for those that enter through the door into your space. It is also said to bring lots of positive energy into a space.
Blue doors represent trust, loyalty and stability. The color blue is often linked with thoughts and feelings of safety and security. GREEN FRONT DOOR
The color green is inspiring and a great choice to paint your front door.

Homes that face east and southeast do well with green front doors. There are many shades you can use to paint your front door green. These include emerald, loden, lime and teal green.
In some cultures a green front door represent growth because of it is the shade of green plants in nature. In China, for example, green is connected to life, east and the sunrise. If you’re environmentally conscious, you’ll do well with this color for your home.
A green door also means prosperity because it is the same color as dollar bill currency in the United States. Some people may paint their front door green to attract and humbly celebrate wealth.
A green exterior door can signify safety. This meaning for green is represented with the green signal on a traffic light. It means that it is safe for a person to proceed into traffic. You can show others that your home is a safe haven by painting your front door green.
