Is your measles vaccination still effective? Even though many Americans have been vaccinated against measles (MMR vaccine, two doses in childhood) and the virus is considered eliminated in the United States as of 2000, one needs to take precaution if traveling to endemic areas. Currently, measles is making a resurgence in parts of Europe, Africa and Asia.

France, Spain, the United Kingdom, Romania and western Ukraine have documented the most cases of measles since 2011. If traveling to the U.K. for the Olympics this summer, the CDC strongly urges re-vaccinating against measles.
